Snow Update

The snow is almost gone. Eugene cleared the neighborhood driveways and then it snowed again on Saturday. He didn't have to do any more clearing though because it all melted. I don't know how snow can melt when it feels so cold out. Its been in the 40's but with a wind blowing you get chilled to the bone. I didn't get these pictures posted when we received the big snowstorm that closed school for two days so just remember, these pictures go with the last blog.

I also wanted to comment on the loss of our dear prophet, President Gordon B. Hinckley. We will miss him so much, but are grateful he is with his love, Sister Hinckley. We have been so blessed to have had such an example of love and sacrifice.

President Monson will be a wonderful prophet. We have loved him for many many years. He was one of my favorite speakers as a youth and that was a long time ago. I love his sweet nature and kind voice. It is so much easier to be called to repentence by a kind voice. He has chosen 2 wonderful men as his counselors. Elder Eyring was put in as President of Ricks College when Eugene and I were there. He is the most humble of men. President Uchtdorf I know will bring a new energy to The First Presidency. What a great combination!

It really snowed!

Wow! It snowed here and church was cancelled Sunday. That rarely happens. I had the bulletin all ready to go too. It's a good thing I didn't run it off Saturday night. We enjoyed having church at home. Monday wasn't any better. Schools were closed. The road underneath the snow was black ice. There wasn't much traffic out and about. Eugene spent part of the day clearing out our driveway and those of neighbors. He built a small mountain in the front yard.

Last night things warmed up a bit and the ice from the trees started falling. There was a wind and so the ice started hitting the front windows. It sounded like rocks were pelting it. I was hoping and praying the windows would hold up and not break.

Today is Tuesday. Schools were closed again. Kristin called and said she couldn't stand it anymore. She had to get out of her house so Aaron drove them over. The boys saw the mountain of snow and couldn't wait to conquer it. Noah and Brady made a slide out of it and Reagan is happy just to finally get to the top. Me, I'm just happy to sit around in my PJ's and enjoy watching them have fun.

A New Year

Here we are in 2008. I never thought we would get into this century. Actually this picture wasn't taken in 2008 (06), but we haven't really changed much since this picture was taken. We have been so blessed the past year that we wanted to share them with you all.
Eugene has been very busy. Not only has he had a lot of excavating work but he has been bishop for the past 5 years. He was released in December '07. I've got plenty of Honeydooo's for him to keep busy.
Last night we were invited to go out to dinner with Eugene's 1st bishopric and were surprised with all of the counselors and wives that have served with him. It was quite a surprise and very fun. He was given a pair of slippers so he could enjoy his retirement. I doubt that will last long.
We are enjoying our children and grandchildren so much. We miss Jenny and Jordan as they live in Colorado, but those that are here in the Tri-Cities are so much fun. We have 11 grandchildren here and 3 almost 4 in Colorado.
We also enjoy having Eugene's mother live close to us. She's so close all we have to do is go from the familyroom into the mudroom, knock on her door and there she is. It is wonderful. We get along great. She takes care of me and I do my best to take care of her.
